Introducing Philosophy

I just finished the illustrated book Introducing Philosophy. I found it to be a quick and painless introduction to the history of Western philosophy from the ancient Greeks to modern day. I was pleased to see a brief mention of my favorite living philosopher, Daniel Dennett.

I just finished taking a philosophy course this summer through Westminster in Dallas. It was from a continental perspective, which was a little different since I have tended strongly toward analytic philosophy, but on the upside it filled in a few gaps. Good stuff - my favorite to study was the pre-Socratics, so I ended up buying a copy of W.K.C. Guthrie's "The Greek Philosophers".

regarding Dennett, anyone who says the universe is wonderful is missing the point
